https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altay_City

The reason for the thread title is that China usually doesn't have such high snowfall, because the Siberian High blocks winter moisture. But Altay, due to it's far western location and latitude near 48 N, has a unique steppe climate only adjacent to parts of it's province.

I'd say this climate gets a B-. The winters are beautiful although too cold, and the summers are tolerable with the low ish humidity and coolish mornings, which would be refreshing after facing down the heat last day. I'm interested in seeing your ratings.

That winter cold would be brutal and too dry and sunny all year round. Not the worst climate, though, so a C.

In fact it is nothing special. It is slightly wetter than other locations in Northern China like Harbin, but the precipitation pattern is the same and winter is still very dry. The average snowfall likely doesn't reach 1 meter.

C. Winters too long and too cold. However, it is warmer than my own city (Saskatoon) in every month except March. Saskatoon would rate a D on my scale.
