Count me in to the physically fit and very active group. Like cambium, if I sit in one place for more than 30-45 minutes I become very uneasy and want to get up. I go to the gym for 1-2 hours a day, I do insanity, play basketball, baseball, football, etc. I especially like doing these activities in temps below 60 F, but I do enjoy jogging when it's 90 F out because you sweat a lot and burn more calories.
Oh yeah, forgot about my favorite sport. lol. Hockey. I play hockey when the boys are ready. Used to be twice a week. Now its getting less and less but I rollerblade as a tradeoff to jogging or walking.
No. I'm pretty fit and active. And FTR I recorded my fastest speed on my bicycle on a 22°C+ day during peak temperature.
my fastest was 46 mph. Don't remember the day, though 22°C+ days would be the majority of days I ride, since hotter days are more common than milder in between days.
Must everything be hot vs cold? How about those who love mild weather? 50s and 60s is probably the most ideal for physical activity. I had a housemate who like to bicycle commute. Didn't care much for heat, especially humid heat, just liked weather conducive to cycling. So, mid 40s to somewhere in the 70s depending on humidity.
On this forum, there's very few of us. In P&OC, as well, there's curiously very few people who fall somewhere in the middle. Something about the internet that attracts the 10% standard deviation in society

The 10% brightest and the 10% dumbest?
Middle views tend not to excite enough to passionate to make you spend lots of time expressing them.

Lol, I'm not gonna be mean now but even on the Weather forum, the extreme heat and cold lovers are very well represented. Us mild weather lovers are few and far between.

I didn't remember you were a mild lover. There are a few "continental climate lovers" that want both extreme heat and cold. You should post a dream climate, if you haven't already. Here's mine:
Note that while a few months are hot, I avoided extreme heat and humidity to make physical activity still doable (and more sleep able).
I believe people are active recreationally worldwide regardless of weather conditions.
Active socially is a different question though!
I've lived in Miami for 2 years and stayed in Boston for 3 months during the spring season.
Boston was by far the coldest city I have ever been to, but the people there were more socially active than the people in Miami.
So it all depends on your geographic location, culture, and current the state of the economy.
I enjoy 'mild' weather during certain parts of the year.
Anyway, I'm pretty active. I was active by "force" (my job) this summer. Extremely active actually, I'm in the best shape of my life now. But that wasn't by choice. Voluntarily I go hiking quite often during spring, fall, and winter (summer on the cooler days). I need to take up tennis again. I used to play basketball all the time, but it's been years. Now days it's mostly walking and running.
