Dras - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Awesome climate, A+. It's not quite perfect, but it's still one of the best climates in the world.

B, don't like the chance for freezes in summer and spring is wetter and colder than I'd like. Neat winters though, and it's a fantastic climate for winter sports. (I'm assuming the total of 360mm/14 inches of snow is a mistake.)

The combination of high precipitation and massive diurnal range is unusual. Reminds me of somewhere like Darwin Ranch, WY but it has far more precipitation.

Can't decide between A- and B+ ... There are just too many minor disadvantages in this climate... First of all, through its alpine character, diurnal ranges are way too big and I'd rather prefer a more maritime sort of climate.. Then, I don't like the pronounced dry season in summer and summer averages highs are definetely too warm... at least 3°C, while record highs are still acceptable. Winter averages are pretty good and the fact that this place obviously gets more than 90 mm of precipitation in January, while having temperatures mostly between -5°C and -25°C, really amazes me.. Nonetheless, fall and winter start too late.. September-November should be a few degrees colder. All in all, I can't give it more than a B+, because of the too warm summers, the too warm fall and the alpine character... Although snowfall is probably pretty awesome.

Yes, it is. They probably mean 14" of winter precipitation. Probably gets around 200" of snow.

B. Too cold in winter and too hot in summer.

Averages look nasty but I have to say that I spent a week around Leh (not too far from Dras, comparable summer averages) in August and it felt extremely pleasant: warm days, abundantly sunny, pure and light air and cool calm nights (my ideal winter weather).

F+/D- depending on sunshine; way too cold. I'll vote E.

I give it a D. It would have been a C-/D+ if it wasn't for that absolutely horrid vegetation. I mean come on, this place actually has a similar climate to mountainous forests in the western USA, but it looks like a desert.
