BRRR.... my AC broke down earlier today and it was a sticky 87 in the house. Now that I got it to work, its much more tolerable 78F.

I looked down at Laredo and they topped 90 again!! South Padre Island also has dewpoints around 76 -- compared to our 71 here.

I wish our house was 78 F, but it'd cost so much more to heat.

I'm home this weekend and can't wait to get back to my rental room away from home so I can crank up the heat and be able to feel completely warm-blooded again.

Dewpoints at 76 F and 71 F in December?
I thought San Antonio was supposed to feel a somewhat dry roughly year-round. (according to AAA it does)

We don't even get dewpoints above 70 F in summer most of the time. Usually it stays between 50-68 F, even in July, except during the occaisional warm rainy spells and heat waves.

I hate to sound abrasive -- but whoever told you SA is dry lied to you. In my five years here we do go through periods of dry weather (mainly in the spring, winter, and fall) with dewpoints below 50 -- in some cases close to zero with temps in the 70s/80s. However, in the summertime, we usually have dewpoints at or above 70 and even around 80 on occasion. Unfortunately, even with high humidity, we don't always have the lifting mechanisms that generate the showers and thunderstorms because of our geographical location causing the weather patterns to remain stagnant during the summer. Therefore we're always coming in or out of droughts. This summer we were the rain bucket of the country, and now we're easing into drought.
