Not surprisingly, a dry month with just 22.6mm falling across 5 days.
It is interesting how you had a lot more precipitation than us, but WAY more sunshine. We had an extremely strong high pressure system over us, which kept the rain clouds away, but prevented the fog from dissipating at the same time. The average pressure at my place was more than 102.2 kPa, which is quite high for 500m.
Here in British, it was driest October on record in the central and north coasts. On the north coast, 50+ mm is record breaking this time of year. For the the province as a whole, it was the 10th driest since 1895. Where I live it was dry, but by no means a top 10 kind of year. We have 10 to 17 mm depending on which weather station you want to go with, but some years we can go the entire month without any precipitation. That last time that happened in the province was in Kelowna in 2002, which turned out to be the driest October on record for the province. Interestingly, the following October, in 2003, was the second wettest.
Besides 2002, 14 other years have at least one weather station recording 0 mm for the month of October:
Mean Monthly Temperature in Indianapolis was 0.4 Degrees Fahrenheit Below Normal at 54.6 F, Monthly precipitation was the wettest October since 2009, at 5.46 inches, 2.34 inches above the 30 year average(period 1981-2010) of 3.12 inches, there was a trace of snowfall which is 0.4 inches below the 30 year average. It was also a quite foggy or hazy at times in the Circle City, with 20 days producing fog or haze. Sources Cited: National Weather Service Forecast Office, Indianapolis/NOAA.
The 2nd closest weather station to my house only had 6 mm of precipitation last month. Here are the maps showing how the temperature and precipitation deviated from the 1981-2010 average (green = average).

...OCTOBER 2013 WAS A VERY DRY MONTH ACROSS EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA...
FRONTAL PASSAGES WERE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN IN OCTOBER WITH ONLY ONE
SIGNIFICANTLY COOLER AIRMASS BUILDING INTO THE AREA LATE IN THE
MONTH. LACK OF FRONTS...A CONTINUED INACTIVE TROPICS AND THE EARLY
TRANSITION TO THE DRY SEASON LED TO WELL BELOW NORMAL RAINFALL AND
TEMPERATURES THAT WERE NEAR TO ABOVE NORMAL OVER THE REGION.
.TEMPERATURES...
NEAR TO ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WERE GENERALLY PRESENT DURING THE
FIRST SEVERAL DAYS OF OCTOBER AND THEN A WEAK FRONT MOVED THROUGH
DURING THE 8TH AND 9TH OF THE MONTH WITH SLIGHTLY COOLER AND DRIER
CONDITIONS MOVING IN BEHIND THE BOUNDARY. THIS FRONTAL PASSAGE
FINALLY ALLOWED ORLANDO'S LOW TEMPERATURE TO DROP BELOW 70 DEGREES
WHICH WAS THE THE FIRST TIME THIS HAD OCCURRED AT THIS SITE SINCE
LATE MAY. THESE SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES WERE SHORT LIVED
HOWEVER AND IT WASN'T UNTIL LATE IN THE MONTH...DURING THE 23RD...
THAT A MORE SIGNIFICANT COOL FRONT MOVED ACROSS CENTRAL FLORIDA.
AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURE DEPARTURES AROUND 3 TO 7 DEGREES BELOW
NORMAL WERE PRESENT FROM THE 24TH THROUGH THE 27TH WITH LOWS DIPPING
INTO THE 50S THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON. ONSHORE FLOW IN THE LAST
FEW DAYS OF THE MONTH THEN STEADILY INCREASED TEMPERATURES TO MORE
SEASONABLE VALUES.
