Historically,Bosphorus frozen three times in 673,801,802 AD and several times floating ice masses were present in bosphorus strait in 739, 753, 755, 762, 928, 934, 1011, 1232, 1620, 1669, 1755, 1823, 1849, 1862, 1893, 1929, 1954.

I doubt it. I'm sure it is possible, like i'm sure its possible for the lough neagh to freeze here or lough foyle but its probably not gonna happen for like 200 years. Tbh you need a special set of circumstances for that to happen.

1. It needs to be cool already.
2. It needs to be subzero all winter, or at least for two months.

I know nothing about that part of the world, but how trustworthy are the records saying it froze over properly in the 600s-800s when it hasn't done in 1200 years since and getting any ice on there at all is such a rare thing?

perhaps a tambora-style volcanic eruption would make it possible?

Well why did you ask then?

Maybe...
People here arguing about even temps are below -20c for one or two weeks which is unlikely without ice age Bosphorus doesnt freeze.

I don't think two weeks of -20c would really make a difference.

No its not even that if the sea temp is like 15c it will take forever to cool down. Even in cold winters here were it is subzero for like 2 months it still only reaches 4/5c. (The ocean).
