Chaves, Skopje too hot in summer and too dry.

Summers and winters are better in Skopje. I'm kind of surprised that winters are colder in Skopje. Also their record highs and lows are respectable.

Chaves seems too tame

Btw, it's Skopje Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. There real Macedonia was a Hellenic kingdom most of which is inside what is today the the Province of Macedonia in Northern Greece (where my mother is from).

Chaves. The summer lows are chilly, but Skopje is uncomfortably cold in winter.

^^

So you would give Chaves the better climate simply because it is warmer in the winter? Skopje has higher monthly maximum temps in 6 months (significantly warmer summers), about equal in March and October, and colder in only 4 months.

There isn't much of a difference between 29C and 32C. There's a huge difference between 5C and 10C.

Cold is always unacceptable.

Chaves, because is located in the nortwesternmost limits of Mediterranean climates into the Iberian peninsula, so also experiences so much oceanic influences.

I'm going to go with Chaves. Skopje has better summers, but this is canceled out by colder winters and for dryer.

Chaves for me. Too dry is it's only real fault

Skopje is too cold, cloudy and dry - a terrible combination.

You are right, Skopje's sunshine hours are pretty pitiful. I just noticed that. I wonder if that is accurate
