LOL -- sounds like my neck of the woods We have periods Dec-Feb where it stays at or below -40 for a week or longer.

Here in the Alaskan Interior anything above 0F/-17C is "warm" in the winter and anything above freezing is positively balmy It's not uncommon to see folks running around outside in shorts, t-shirts and snow boots when we get a chinook blow in a warm spell of 40F/4C.

You have got to be kidding me man. Even my hometown in India does not see 90 F temperatures in Winter. The record high for January down there is 91 F. Typically, temperatures range between 65-80 F with sunshine and low humidity.

L.A. is typically in the mid to upper 60s in winter, occasionally reaching the low 80s. I have been to L.A. over Thanksgiving, Christmas, President's Day weekend etc, and don't believe I have ever seen 90 + there in winter.

As for my location, I consider a high of upper 60s or higher warm for winter. We usually have highs in the upper 50s.

Pretty similar to Daytona, but you can have a wider variety of palm trees and it's the lightning capital
I personally like Lakeland better, inland so it gets colder during cold snaps and gets even more lightning than Tampa.

60-70 F / 16-21 C is warm in winter for here. Above 70 F / 21 C is hot, record territory.

I expected your threshold for warmth to be lower and thought you would say upper 40's F in January (Which is still well above average for January in Central NJ).

70 F in Winter is incineration.

Over half of winter days here top 50 F / 10 C. It's a thin majority, and of course the dead of winter has a slight majority of sub - 50 F / 10 C days, but I'm taking December 1 - February 28/29.

Here December 1st, average is 46/29. February 29th is even colder at 43/25. Winter in my books lasts till March 15th when averages hit 50 F for the first time since November. In fact, tomorrows prediction is 47/30 and temps stay bound in the upper 40s for thanksgiving weekend which is conducive with averages. After that its dipping into the mid 30s.

Be prepared to bake lol.

According to the maps I've seen, Tampa has higher flash density with fewer thunderstorm days. That March 31 2011 storm in Lakeland was out of this world though.
