Nothing like an actual OBS to understand it. :-)

Actual Sounding from Balloon Launch in DC and VA at 12z this morning. Notice ROA warm layer and the actual OBS went from Overcast to freezing rain. And it was light because there's pockets of dry air.

Notice the low level dry air over DC also but very cold levels and no moisture. I LOVE this time of year.

I like the snow, for sure, but not that ice forecast. I have to drive to work. Either way, I'm glad I only drive on relatively empty and familiar back roads to and from work instead of crowded highways if we're going to get ice.

12z Hi-Res NAM snow depth at 10am Monday morning.

Not sure I believe the half foot in PA or the 4-6" near Philly there but the Hi-res models pick up the higher elevations.

I can see 2-4 in those areas of CT though.
