So, which city do you choose. Both are about the same on a yearly average, except Portland, OR is 8 F warmer in the winter and Hamburg is 8 F cooler in the summer. Portland more or less resembles my dream climate, so the choice is obvious for me.

Hamburg, Germany:

Portland, OR:

Please feel free to discuss micro climates in both regions as well.

Hamburg easily. More chance of snow in winter, cooler summers.

We must have similar climate preferences, Portland, OR is an A- climate for me. Much better than Hamburg.

Hamburg by a slight margin for me for more summer thunderstorms and winter snow without being bitterly cold. However, Hamburg doesn't get those warm spells like the mid Atlantic U.S. does and is also low on sunshine. I like Portland's summer temperature's and sunshine totals better though.

Both are B climates for me.

Portland for me. Apart from the dry summers and the cloudy months, it's quite a reasonable climate.

It's interesting to see Hamburg's summer temperatures are much the same as here. I have a close friend from Hamburg who describes the summers there as not very good, and very different to summer here. Extra sun hours and sun angle/strength make a big difference.

Portland. It says it only snows once or twice year like Portland and Portland has the better summers.

I like warm summers, anything with an average high of about 72 to as high as 90 if there's breaks. One thing I hate about summers here is that 95% of days are hot and humid with most days between 86-76 degrees, not going out of that window often.
