Under conditions of sunshine and light to no breeze, what is you minimum outdoor comfort temperature for going out without a jacket on? What about just shorts, tshirt, and flip-flops? At what temperature do you start to feel too hot for comfort? At what temperature do you feel is too cold even when well dressed with a jacket on?
It really depends on season.
In summer, my range would be 5 to 15 C with a jacket, or 18 to 25 C with shorts and flip flops.
In winter, 0 to -5 C with a jacket, or 10 to 15 C with shorts and flip flops.
Too cold for a jacket: below -15 C in winter
Below 0 C in summer (yes it occcasionally happens).
note: I can be comfortable at any temperature if I dress really well, but I assumed that I just have a jacket on for warmth.
To answer my own question (and for the record, I ALWAYS wear a tshirt, even if I have a hoodie or jacket on over it), short, tshirt, and flipflop is usually a good choice in the low 60s F, although I've done it in the upper 50s just fine as well. Unless it is a hot day with no expectation of cooling, I always have a jacket with me, but don't typically have it on after about 60 degrees (again sometimes lower than that). Humidity is also a factor, but I'm assuming low humidity here.
It starts to get too hot here in Seattle after about 85 degrees or so, but in the much drier conditions east of the Cascades I'm fine well into the 90s. Although, as I said, I will go out in shorts and a t and flipflops just fine from the upper 50s, I'd say that 66 to 83 degrees is perfection for no jacket, shorts, tshirt, and flipflop comfort around the Seattle area.
Too cold even when properly dressed and with a jacket on? I have yet to experience it. (Even when I worked inside of freezers at -10 F with the fans blowing on me, I found that I was perfectly fine with a parka on, even to the point where I was starting to overheat in it and had to unbutton it and pull the hood down).
In Winter:
10°C/50°F and above: A light jacket with a light sweater or T-shirt is fine
13°C/55°F and above (happens very rarely): In those cases i'm fine with just a T-shirt on
Spring/Autumn:
16°C/61°F and above: Leave the jacket at home and i'm out in the sweater or T-shirt
20°C/68°F and above: T-shirt and shorts with sneakers and sandals
Summer:
18°C/64°F and above: T-shirt
23°C/73°F and above T-shirt, shorts and sandals (prefer them over flip flops)
Too hot for comfort: In humid conditions at above 27°C/80°F in dryer conditions i can take the heat up to the 90s or 32/33°C.
If it's sunny, 15C and above = T shirt, possibly shorts if it isn't too windy but more likely jeans. I might wear a hoodie or something, but I might end up getting too warm. 15C and overcast = hoodie and jeans, unless it's very humid.
I can wear hoodies down to freezing, even if it's breezy.
