How many hours does the drive take from NJ. I might want to visit thousand islands this summer to escape heat.

I would give Kingston a C+; I've lived here for just over ten years. At this point in time, we are experiencing quite a bit of GloBull Warming, with the high over the next couple of days to go all the way up to 5 degrees Fahrenheit. A bit of a shock to the system as I just returned here three days ago after spending a week on the Left Coast (B.C.), where it was in the low 50s with sunshine.

It's right around 6 hours to the Thousand Islands border crossing from where I am. Kingston's around 6.5, if I recall correctly. I've driven to Ontario twice to visit friends, once from home and once from when I lived on campus as a student at Rutgers-New Brunswick, and it took about the same amount of time to reach the border, 6 hours, because it's a less direct route from there.

I too am surprised that the record high is only 34C
Kingston has a cooler summer than Ottawa, and Ottawa is farther north!
Must be the Lake, wiki mentions that Kingston is very windy due to winds off the Lake.
Wiki stats are from the airport weather station, at the environment Canada website
there are stats at Kingston Pumping Station weather station that indicate average highs
about 1C warmer, particularly warmer in summer.

I live in Burlington on the other end of the Lake (about 300 kms west of Kingston),
we are significantly warmer every month, with average jan. high 0C, average july high 28C
For example, Kingston averages 2.4 days with temps above 30C
compared to Burlington with an average of 19.4 days per year.
Burlington record high is 105F / 40C (record low -29C)

Kingston has a pretty good climate, cooler summer = less A/C
but I still prefer Burlington's climate (less snow, warmer, and a bit sunnier too).

Whats the likelihood that NJ this year will have yearly snow totals similar to Kingston's average snow amounts.

I say there is a 45 % chance we will hit 61" of snow before the year ends.
