What was the snowiest day ever where you live.

Here, the snowiest day ever was on 27th December 2010, when we were dumped with 34" of snow by a monster Nor'easter. It will remain an all time record, as I cant envision 2.5 ft of snow on a single day happening anytime soon. I saw an AEM 7C (#912 I believe) hauled Amtrak train stuck behind my house, and it took 2 hours for diesel backup Geeps to arrive. Poor thing had to stand out in the snow .

The biggest snowstorm was the blizzard of 1996, in January 1996. 30.7 inches (78 cm) of snow fell in Philadelphia during that snowstorm. I remember it vaguely.

I think the December 2010 storm snow totals in your area tied or even broke the previous NJ record, Adi. Previously, believe it or not, Cape May had held the record with 34 inches in the Great Blizzard of 1899.

Yeah, that was a BAD storm. We were snowbound for 2 days . After experiencing such intense snowfall, yesterday's blizzard was nothing .

For Washington, DC, 21.0 inches (53.3 cm) of snow on 28 Jan 1922, in what is known as the Knickerbocker Storm. Pittsburgh was dumped on by 23.6" (59.9 cm) of snow on 13 Mar 1993, the 1993 Storm of the Century

Yeah, yesterday's blizzard wasn't too bad by NJ standards. We got 7 or 8 inches.. not a big deal. In recent memory, we've had equal or more severe storms in December 2009, February 2010, December 2010, January 2011, and December 2013. We should be used to big snowstorms living in NJ.
