I read on this forum that hurricanes sometimes can happen in New York City, where were northernmost and southernmost registrations of tropical cyclones?

Hurricane Faith in 1966 reached the Faroe Islands at 62°N before being classed as an extratropical cyclone. The extratropical cyclone reached Franz Josef Land off the east coast of Svalbard.

Wow, it was still a hurricane then (at the Faroes)? That's impressive feat. It seems like a lot of hurricanes can get really far north in the north Atlantic but only as extratropical cyclones, not as full-strength hurricanes.

Another related question could be how far inland can a tropical cyclone get and still be a tropical cyclone. Land and cold water both weaken their power a lot.
