St Louis hit 27C today

Just a day or two ago, most met outlets called for a couple of inches of snow for Chi at best.... JB called 3-6" locally 10"... Now our local met is saying 4-8" with possible embedded thundersnow producing locally heavier amounts.

Still anything can happen between now and tomorrow night.... Could totally miss us.

9PM update: GFS now gunning for Chicagoland

RPM still lays down some snow

Seven day forecast

Nice!! Yeah I was watching the latest NAM show the storm more north and drops over half foot for you. And I love how some people pick at the wrongs of JB but not the rights. Similar to those who cherry pick the warm data. Lol

Check this out... Storm ticked and trended north past 24hrs. look at NWS Boston snowfall forecast and you can see how some folks will call it a bust.

8-10" areas now down to 4-6". lol Why couldn't it have shifted south by 50 miles.

Here's WPC storm track yesterday vs this morning. Less digging now in Kansas, MO and KY & no NJ exit. http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/wwd/winter_wx.shtml

Winter storm warnings are already being posted

RPM model this morning... Maybe on the high side, but one thing is for sure, Wednesday AM rush hour is toast.

Here are snapshots of our new in-house RPM model's snowfall forecast through 7am Wed morning (some additional snow expected to fall beyond the period depicted here--so this is not a storm total--but a look at the snowfall the storm may produce through 7am Wed morning), as well as the new 7pm Monday run of the NWS high resolution WRF model--both a Midwest view and a Chicago area close-up. This model assumes a 10 to 1 snow/water ratio while there evidence the ratio may fall in the 14 to 1 range.

NAM is out of control with snowfall

Either way, it is becoming likely that we are going to move into second snowiest season on record within striking distance of 78/79'!

ohoh. Cold coming to Europe in time for spring?

Incredible. I hope everyone realizes what a sutble track shift means for people in the way. You went from couple inches to this now. Some folks went from 6-10" to couple inches.
Track, Track, Track. Enjoy!!

BTW.. Detroit #1 most snowfall is 93.6" in 1880-81.
So far they have 84.1". So they might be #1 after this storm now.
