NWS Snow Total Forecast pieced together for north of Philly. Color Tables r different with some offices. As of 6:30am
NWS Snow Total Forecast pieced together for Philly Southward. As of 6:30am. ( didn't have NWS Blacksburg snow forecast link)
Drifted a little too far south, lol. I'm in the 8-10'' zone. But it could be close. The 10-14'' area isn't too far away if it comes just a little bit north. I hope it does, but still, I'm not complaining about 8-10 inches of snow!
So Houston and Dallas have recorded 80 on January 1, but of course they can't mention any Florida cities in that article.
90F stats would be particularly interesting. Ft. Myers is the outright winner of the earliest category as the only city in the state to have hit 90 in January.
Why would they mention Florida and winter in the same sentence let alone in the same article?
Saturday’s snowfall at O’Hare of 3.7 inches at O’Hare boosted the season’s total there to 71.4 inches elevating the city’s official 2013-14 snow season total to 4th highest on record, passing the 68.4 inches recorded in the 1966-67 season; the winter that featured Chicago’s record 23.0 inch snowstorm on January 26-27, 1967
With 2.9 inches of snow Saturday, Midway Airport’s seasonal snowfall total has reached 75.5 inches. It is only the fourth time in Midway’s history dating back to the winter of 1928-29 that a 70-inch snow season has been recorded. The South Side Airport is closing in on the winter of 1969-70 that logged 77.0 inches and only needs another 1.6 inches to become the third snowiest winter at Midway Airport dating back to 1928-29
Since midnight however we picked up a couple more inches. As of 5AM 4.1 of snow at Chicago-Midway so 76.7 inches for the season at the Southside observation site.
Posted March 24, 2013. Looking at 2 things here. 1. 80s were pushing north in Texas last spring as well. 2. The tighter gradient was north more last year I think. Not sure if its because the cold air is deeper south this year or it's still March 2nd right now.

Those same locations in Texas that were >90F are now sub-70F, and those same locations in Illinois/Indiana that were >50F yesterday are now staring down the barrel of 8-12 inches of snow . This is what March should look like (-10F monthly departures from normal not withstanding; normal in the U.S. is too hot ).
Posted March 15th, 2013: Look at that Atlantic Ridge pumping to Greenland! This year it's more impressive in the West. Notice the SW Ridge last Spring, that actually ended up in central US I believe pumping up into Canada eventually. Remember the Central Plains heat wave?
Cold front moving through now and temps are crashing... under a Winter Storm Warning for 1/2" of ice and 1" of sleet, also a Wind Chill Advisory, near 0 Monday and Tuesday morning. Should be interesting tonight

The migratory birds have been flying north for the past couple weeks, although there's a lot more of them now.
The only sign of spring we're missing now is the flowers, and the weather.
