LA by a small margin. Warmer in the winter. I also like the topography much more than flat Australia. LA has soaring snow capped mountains in winter that you can see from your sunny and warm January palm studded lawn.
Reminds me of undergrad college years in Library by resource reference section wiling away time dreaming of the perfect place to live based upon climate maps. Perth was the winner due to climate being much like Southern California, having English as primary language and NO major fault lines nearby (earthquakes).
According to literature I recall, they spoke of the Fremantle 'Doctor' breezes, and dangers of swimming in Southern ocean due to high shark population. To last point mentioned, I do like having the variety of topography of Southern California due to elevation levels in surrounding area, but, if I remember, there is the Stirling range (about 1000 meters) relatively close by to the South of Perth toward Albany
Still want to get to Perth someday - perhaps some terraforming of mountains to the east of it about 50 km would make an ideal climate even better with mountains like Southern California
not all of LA but most of LA has winters in 70s, from East LA all the way south to south gate, east to Anaheim in OC, north to the lower region of San Gabriel Valley all have averages above 70 for winter, the rest upper are 68+.
Just for little more proof, winter so far (forecasts show lower to mid 80s/upper 70s for the rest of Jan) throughout SoCal (GLA, and some regions of SD), not just LA Area has had an average daily high of 80.

First of all this thread is supposed by for downtown Los Angeles.
Second, the LA Area has *not* had an average high of 80F this winter.
Third, a few scattered stations in the LA basin do indeed have a February average of 70F (which is very impressive!) but these stations tend to be exception, not the rule. The overall average is still in the 60s. I invite you to peruse some of the data that may be found here, here, here, here, or here.
LA is remarkably warm in winter for its latitude. Indeed, it may well the the warmest locale at that latitude anwhere. But if you want it to be some kind of Miami West you'll have to provide some references because simply you saying (or wishing) it true does not make it true.
