Yes, memories of the weather tie in strongly with my memories of any traumatic event. I could tell you the weather the day our President Kennedy was assassinated, and I was only a child. 9/11 was an exceptionally beautiful day weather-wise that I was very grateful for. Because when I first heard the news, I was in a car in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, driving to the airport to take a plane to Newark Airport in New Jersey. I had a business meeting in Greenwich Village on 9/12 and I was going early to enjoy a day in New York. Needless to say, my trip was cancelled.
Sept. 11, 2001 - It was pleasantly warm that day, few clouds, low 80s for a high. I was in 3rd grade, and my dad told me what had happened during the day on my way home. He'd heard all about it on the news.
July 7, 2005 (London bombings) - Hot, humid, muggy low to mid 90s high weather. I was over at my grandparents' house (my mom's parents) and saw the bombings live on Fox News.
April 15, 2013 (Boston bombings) - I was up in Cookeville, TN off at college. Warm (70s) and partly cloudy.
My mom says that the Challenger disaster day (January 28, 1986) she was at home cleaning her room on a snow day in high school. I was still nearly 7 years from being born.
blue dome sky, high in the low 70s. Was a nice stretch of weather as early fall often is. Remember it walking home from school that afternoon. The other days I don't remember as much as they weren't local events.
I was in India when the tsunami hit, probably a high in the 70s?
11 Sept 2001 was a cool day and I had a night shift. I remember the day clearly, and as I was sleeping to some 3pm I learned only later about the incident. The high was 15C, low 10C and overcast.
11 March 2004 Madrid bombings affected me more than the London ones, as Madrid was the first. Can't remember the weather, but apparently it had quite the diurnal range: high 5C, low -11C and sunny the whole day.
22 July 2011 was during a heat wave and I was at our summer cottage. We listened to the news on the porch with a 30C high and full sunshine the whole day. Good that we have WLAN on our cottage.

This one was sunny here, I remember it clearly as I was seeing on tv that it was gloomy and overcast in Oslo.
At that time I already had my own weather database, so high was 27º C and low 9º C.
In northeast Ohio, it was a beautiful sunny day, about 70 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky. When they grounded all air traffic, it was eerily quiet too.
