Those are scots pines right?

Some pics from a bicycle ride on the first 20°C/70°F+ day of the year:







I believe these are the same pines (forest office says 5% of the trees in Ile-de-France are scots pines):





Would look pretty almost mediterranean if it wasn't for the birches







Does this count as a wide open space?

Very likely. They are by far the most common pines here.
The house with the oriel looks gorgeous as do the pines but your first two pics look depressing, bare forests without snow rank among the worst landscapes.

The picture of the Tabebuia aurea was taken in Centroamérica 2.5 weeks ago. I saw so many flowering trees yellow, red, blue, purple.
