As long as it's overcast, I'm satisfied. I don't mind the 20s actually, but combine that with bright skies... NOOOOO! I love cold weather (as long as it doesn't get inconvenient for people), and I prefer hazy, foggy, overcast, drizzly skies. I'm the only person I know who has SAD exactly opposite the usual type. Spring-and-summer weather with lots of sunshine sends me into hiding, dreaming of dusk. Then there's my night owlness; I crash as dawn approaches.
As a winter baby, I love snow. However, I know what it's like to have to get out in the stuff. I'm on Disability, so I have the luxury of getting cozy when winter moves in. I just don't want to see it create havoc.
Is that terribly convoluted? Well, I've been up for too long, dawn is approaching, and I'm watching "Rock Around the Clock". I'm so conflicted={
Did I answer the question? My fibrofoggy brain isn't so sure.
I can't stand the sunshine in the winter. Where I live it snows a lot and the glare from the sun kills my eyes, even with sunglasses it's un bearable.
I'd take the grey overcast all season long. If it's gotta be cold it may as well be gloomy. All or nothing.

Agreed. There was one time my eyes began watering uncontrollably from the glare while I was driving on the highway, and I had the rotten luck to forget my sunglasses at home. I could barely see where I was going. I pulled over on the shoulder and waited a good two hours for the sun to set before resuming the drive.

I'm the same. Sunshine in the winter depresses me, especially with snow. I hate the glare and I hate the fact that sunny LOOKS like it should be warm and it's not. Temperatures are usually a little warmer when it's overcast in the winter, like the clouds hold what little heat there is in.
Right now it is overcast and 42 and feels wonderful compared to the other day when we had clear skies but started off at 1 degree in the morning with wind chills of -15, then a sunny, depressing day that "warmed up" to 17 or something like that.
Well, I did run yesterday afternoon with winter gear here when it was 18 F with a Real feel of 5 F. It wasnt too bad. With that said, mid 40's F with overcast skies would require less layering and put less burden on my body. All I need is a hoodie and long sleeves. No hat, gloves, or jackets required regardless of weather conditions. 25 F with moderate snowfall here right now making it the warmest day this week.
I love the brisk, sunny days we've been getting up here in New England so much this month. I'd take this any day over rainy and raw conditions. At least with this you step outside and feel alive. The brightness helps a lot too
40's and gloomy for me, sunny in the 20's is uncomfortable all around, glare from sun, icy everywhere, dry skin, yuck!
