I'd rather see our record high challenged this year. The 34.4C recorded in August 1990 seems like such a fluke.

If both, the better.

Ideally, I'd like to see our record high and low temp matched or broken this year, and our warmest and coldest months. Also, I'd like to see our wettest month ever occurring in July due to thunderstorms every day, and our driest December ever due to how cold it is and only snow falls.

Is that too much to ask?

record cold january temperature. the all time record high isn't that different from what we reach most summers. the record low on the other hand is 10-12C below what is reached an average winter. much more exciting. in fact, i'd be more excited if gothenburg city center went below -20C than if it broke the all time heat record (33.8C).

Record cold, with record high in second place. Not Orly's measly post-war record though, but Monstouris' one from 1879.

Always record maximum temperatures any month of the year. Especially in Spring, Summer and Autumn though. I would like us to beat the 38.5C record high in summer, and beat the April record high of 29.8C or whatever it is, also the October record high of 29.9C. Winter is a bit pointless as any temperature over 15C here is normally through cloudy atlantic weather, but it would still be interesting!

The national February record is 19.7C at Greenwich (disputed) or 19.5C at Tivington (not disputed). They happened on 13th February though in 1998, so you'd have to suspect that a February 20C is on if only we could get the same synoptics at the end of the month (the earliest 20C on record is 2nd March).

Likewise with 30C in April, if Camden can get 29.4C on 16th April (though again disputed) then presumably somewhere there is the potential for 30C at some point towards the end of the month (the earliest 30C on record is 12th May).

I'm more after record lows especially in winter, but in the other seasons as well. Record low highs and record low lows.

Record highs are all that matter.

Normally, I'd say the greatest snow accumulation recorded at sea level (and the first in my lifetime for my region) but in this drought, heavy rain takes precedence. So I say, let us have a record rainfall from February through June and let's end our drought!
