1981 to 2010 normals are up on Chinese Wikipedia for
Beijing and
Tianjin. To confirm them yourself, you'll need to create an account with the China Meteorological Administration and get LV2 access (I know, it's so exclusive unlike NOAA/NWS, Environment Canada, Bureau of Meteorology etc!!!
) I was the editor, under several non-overlapping (time-wise) identities, confirmed the 1971 to 2000 normals, where available, for all sites in mainland China several times and yet get kicked out of the Wikipedia community for it? Shows you the anti-competency, pro-bureaucracy, clown show that is being run there!!!
If the 1981 to 2010 normals are correctly input, it's astonishing both how much the temperatures narrowed between the two and how much sunshine fell, by 100+ hrs, from the 1971 to 2000 normals (
Beijing and
Tianjin). The 1981 to 2010 stats on Chinese Wikipedia that I gave you put both cities as semi-arid, so the reduction in sun hrs despite the lower precip is screaming "POLLUTION". A decrease, although not necessarily with statistical significance, also occurred from 1961 to 1990 to the next 30-yr normal.
