cloudy summers where it is 50/50 are great - couldn't stand full on sunshine 24/7 during summer . Cooling cloud with a slight breeze can be refreshing although the downside ,humidity makes everything warmer and sticky . A cloudy summers morning sitting in the garden with all the flowers in full bloom freshly watered is a beautiful time for me .

so sunny winters for me then - winters are too gloomy and would gladly have an extra 200/300 hours in winter ,bringing it up to 2,000 hours for me ,then .... almost the ideal climate .

Thats actually tough! Prefer not to have warm nights in winter but a torching sun is summer is worse. So I have to say clouds in winter is worse. Just the word cloud makes me cringe lately.

Cloudy winters are worse, though I don't really like the sun no matter what lol. All week has been hot and dry and sunny but a day ago we had our first cloudy day and I remembered how much cloudy days in summer can make me happy. When you say cloudy though I assume you simply mean cloudy, not completely overcast. That kinda makes me feel just as bad as very sunny days.

What is bad about cloudy winter is that temperatures goes stable during the day. Temperature neither goes up much nor does it go low much. Around the same temperatures ALL DAY. At Sunny weather, temperature will go up and low very much in winter. Warmer in day time but Colder in night time.

For the day time of Winter, I prefer cloudy weather. For the night time of winter, I prefer open weather ( no clouds). It is for having colder weather.

In cloudy summers, temperature doesn't go up much either. But At Sunny weather, temperature will go very high in Summer as well.

In İzmit, where I live, cloudy, rainy weathers make average highs in summer cooler. At Sunny weather, temperature usually goes about 4*C above average highs in Summer.

A cloudy summer is worse. Warm but cloudy feels like a wasted day to me. I want sunshine during the summer. On the other hand, I have no problem whatsoever with a cloudy winter.
