London is oceanic and on an island... Not continental. Heat waves will never be as intense max or lows.
True... but we have higher record max temperatures than Moscow, so I'm still confused. And our record hot months have pretty much all been bone dry with no rain.

But your record hot months aren't as hot. I think it's harder for a hot air mass to stick with its island location.

That's the nationwide highs.

VVC and Domodedovo recorded 39.0C in July 2010 and the SE outskirts 40C.

Here is an interesting article for further reading about the "abnormality" of the 2010 heatwave:

Non-Linear Trends | Open Mind

The deviation of that month compared to the real background level is somewhat lower given that Moscow's Julys follow a non-linear trend.

(I just noticed that the thread title is misleading, it should be read as 'rate the year' of course )

And one would expect London's island location to actually promote higher mins compared to continental climates, which usually cool down quicker at night, but I guess it isn't always as simple as that.

Those temperatures are both from the Greater London area though.

Either way.. The record temperatures are very similar in the 3 summer months

Yeah, that's what I thought as well, particularly as our southerly plumes that promote high temperatures are normally humid and muggy

Kent is Greater London?

Stop your rubbish. Greater Moscow extends then in the same extent, and so for it reached 40C.
