Are these really true microclimates by US standards? Examples of microclimates are Block Island, RI, Boone, NC, and Cape Cod being Maritime (Oceanic) climates outside of the traditional realm. Far and away, Hollywood and Santa Monica are definitely part of the same overall (Mediterranean) Climate.
Coastal areas of LA always seem surprisingly windy and cold to me (and I'm from the PNW!) The huge difference between cool coastal breezes and warm inland weather always makes the beaches seem that much colder.
I'd probably pick Anaheim since it's not excessively hot in summer, but it's far enough from the beaches to avoid the low cloud and chilly winds.
