interesting, looks similar to Viseu, Portugal, both cities are at about the same altitude and latitude and even at the same distance from a western sea.
Viseu

Viseu has slightly colder summers and warmer winters, and the records (all-time high and low) aren't as outstanding, not surprising since eastern usually means more continentality in Europe.

A- to me

You should post more Greek climates for classification, some lesser known ones, like this one.

Yes it is similar except the winters you said. But if there weren' t the mountains of Pindus in Greece Ioannina would be more colder due to the elevation. The mountains of Pindus block the cole from east to the west behind the mountains and block the rains from the west to the east and that 's why West Greece is wettest than East. In latest years the rainfall increased at 1309 mm here and the average minimum temperatures failed at about 1 C every month. The average days of precipitation now are at about 190 days per year.

In Viseu, the precipitation also increased a bit from 1198mm in the 1971-2000 period to 1228mm in the 1981-2010 even the climate's evolution seems similar.

Average days of precipitation is around 140/150 in Viseu, some areas in the northwest mountains of the country (Peneda-GerĂªs reach more than 200 days per year)

Oh and Viseu also has big mountains 30km the east/southeast, the biggest one in Portugal (2000 meters of altitude)

Hahahaha it is nice especially for me as a weather lover! :P But unfortunately here the snow has decreased in recent years. :/ At the past in the whole North Greece we had more snowfalls and more amounts of snow that were on the ground for more days. At these years it can snow for 1 or 2 days and stays on the ground at 3 days maximum. :/ Ioannina has 6 snowfall days per year at average.

Viseu has 1 per yer or so ahah, and it usually doesn't stick to the ground, the last "big" one, was in 2009 when it stayed in the ground for a whole day.
In the 60's, 70's yes they had a couple per year, and at least a good one per year.

Regarding snowfall your city look more like my hometown(Guarda), but I'm at 1000 meters of altitude.
We have 6/7 episodes per year, and maybe once a year it stays on the ground for more than one day.

Oh yes your hometown is like here aproximately. Ioannina has 3 days of snowy ground per year and is at 475 m of altitude. At 700 m and higher in the region of Ioannina there is heavier and much snow at the winter. My home town Serres has 7 days of snow per year and it has 35 m elevation and it is a valley city. :P Greece has a trolling climate. :P

Yes the region of Ioannina is mountainous except the place in which is located the city. It is at 480 m but it doesn 't snow very frequent as in the mountains. :/ The mountains in the north and east block the snow. It only snows when we have enough cold or the snow comes from NW.
