I don't really care about what the average reading should be - I'm just saying that of course a weather station located in a big city is going to record lower sunshine due to obstructions. Hampstead, Greenwich and London City are all located in places with obstructions.
Anyway - this is a really pointless argument over 50 hours or so, I don't think it really matters at all and it's hardly noticeable.
In a big city as well - i forgot about that - more power to my argument , that will bring the average down even more .... OK , revised we will say 1530 ?
Heathrow can stay around 1560 ,that is on the outskirts
I don't think the folk there care about the climate theyre just a hardy old bunch of ex viking stock - seems an interesting place but it wouldn't do me - i like to lay out in the sun from time to time -i think it's a non starter up there
They probably dismiss me as an Orkney plant anyway. "Damn those weasels and their 16C highs!"
except he hasn't explained why London Heathrow and the others are reading as high as 1600 in an inland location (oh, and a big city too )
I looked on google maps London City does look to be congested with buildings that could obstruct sunshine and with the river that close might also be affected by mist/fog?? Heathrow looks that it has much more open space
Huh? Why would it be lower than the verified readings which show 1630??
There is no reason - it's an obvous sunshine trap - maybe the clouds that hover near the airport move out the way to allow the planes greater visibility .
I'm only saying in any city you should have a fair representation - and 1550 is fair for that city , The same as Brussels , and less than coastal Amsterdam .
Paris is around 1600 as well , that seems plausible as it is slightly further away from that North west cloudbelt, as i call it .
Rennes seems slightly out of kilter as well - i would whack that down to 1600 - so it's not just London
Ok well you have your own opinion, I'll stick to verified climate data
I'm not sure why you are making up random numbers when it has been noted that buildings obstructing the sensor is the most likely cause for lower readings
