Surprising how the Gulf of Bothnia keeps the night temperatures up in coastal Sweden above about 60N, wouldn't have thought it would make much difference at this time of year with short nights/sea probably not being all that much warmer than the land.

Luqa reached 35.6C. The Met Office only give current obs for the other stations but it reached 40C at Selmun this afternoon. I have a screen grab when it was 39C...

But Elefsis is a town near Athens, doesn't belong to the metro area itself. Same history happens with Eleftherios International Airport. Actually the former Elliniko Airport, wich is within Athens, reported a max of 40ºC today.
Wich were the maxs in the Hellinikon and Votanikos stations?

The station placed at the mouth of Trondheim fjord at that map is actually on island off the coast, as Ørland had a high of 25C today, almost same as Trondheim Airport, 25.7C, which is not on the map.

I think the station placed there at the coast on the map actually is the lighthouse on the island of Halten, which is off the coast out to sea:

Hellenikon maybe 40 C. Generally I saw that many stations in Athens (center or suburbs) had 40-43 C.

Yes the placement of temperatures on WeatherOnline maps isn't exact. There are quite a few lighthouses that come up when you put the cursor over the temperatures...

Elfsis is a mere 10 miles from Athens center
