Oh, what a powerfull heat wave for early September there!
Find out how to keep cool and safe, mate!
It's just the opposite here in the southwesternmost part of Europe as it's getting colder way quickly.

40,4 C was the temperature at the airport at the station of our national weather service. At the station of National Observatory of Athens the temperature was 41,9!!! Which is the hottest temperature that ever recorded in Greece for September the last 100 years! Fortunately in Ioannina where I stay now we just reached 34 and now it is 19 C. Yes very powerful heat wave I can t remember a similar in early autumn. Tomorrow we may have similar temps in some regions or maybe higher. Hey you lucky ones!

geez, that's really cool for so early in the fall...

I'm not sure we'll reach such lows for at least another 3 months

It's not unusual - they are rural stations for the most part. Here in Leeds, we fell to 6C overnight.

Still cold considering that you normally don't get a freeze until November.

Yeah, it's cold, but happens every few years I would guess, remember a few stations having a freeze in September recently. Not sure when we normally get a freeze but the average is 2 in October.

Actually it is not uncommon either in some parts of France as well, especially in interior Normandy or Champagne areas which can see frosts even in June.

Was there not widespread frost last june in the UK and Ireland, if I remember correctly ? This summer has not failed in providing below average conditions for you guys, since the beginning.

Yes, that's correct. The Met Office map shows 1-5 days of frost here in June this year. I didn't see any, but then, any frost in June will certainly be gone very quickly, before anyone is up. It was very cold at night early on, but also sunny, so not the worst.
