It was pretty cold last night in Germany. Definitley unusual for late April. If we would have landmasses between the UK and Scandinavia, the temperatures would have been much lower.

Why does this have to happen in late April? We did need that pattern in december, but not now

Snowed on the Appennines between Tuscany and Emilia last night but also between Abruzzo, Upper Lazio and Lower Marche and Umbria.

L'Aquila got a dusting but it's apparently still snowing there (800 meters; Abruzzo capital) with some thick fog now:
