Interesting. Lowest absolute high for Leeds was 26.8C, also in 1993. At least no year has ever failed to reach 80F.. lol.

30C is uncommon, as in it only happens once a year usually, and it isn't guaranteed to happen at all. For Leeds Weather Centre there were 1-2 days of 30C+ temps a year on average.

Btw Nice airport hasn't reached 30°C so far this year, whereas Paris did twice.
Nice has been having warmer night time lows than our highs

I wondered if I'd got my one wrong because it's so different to yours and it turns out I had, but it was actually only 22.6C

What a horrendous summer as well as being the dullest year in modern history:

June average high: 16.4C
July average high: 15.5C
August average high: 15.5C

Another oddity about it was that it was (I think) the only year to record its coldest temperature in November (-7.7C, still the record low for the month).

Summer 1993 average highs and sun. Sun hours were only slightly below average, but the temps were crap.

June: 21.8c, 224.2 hrs sun
July: 21.6c, 174.9 hrs sun
August: 21.6c, 219.4 hrs sun

Just had a look through Heathrow's data, and there are only 2 occasions in the record where a poor June and July gave way to an average August, 1998 and 2012.

The coldest ever yearly maximum in Malta (Luqa) is 32.8C (3 times) in July 1964. It only reached 32.2C in August twice too, though these figures are from Tutiempo so not sure how accurate they are...

The coldest since 1980 was as recent as 2014, with 34.7C.

For Leeds in 1993, average highs

June: 19.8C
July: 19.2
August: 19.0C

Funny how our temperatures are closer to Heathrow than Bingley despite Bingley being 12 miles away and Heathrow nearly 200..

At least poor summers used to have good sunshine.. Nowadays it's the lack of summer sun that pisses me off the most, it's ridiculous

No chance. It'll be downgraded, whilst just over the channel enjoys 30C+

I'm not expecting that chart to actually happen. Just yesterday it was showing 30c, and then downgraded to 21c.
