Hellish forecasts for the next days, run after run predicting serious heat.
Portugal could see the highest temperatures since August 2003, we haven't reached 45ºC since then

Maybe a last chance of summer warmth coming for Northwest Europ

Into mid next week and the models indicate the Atlantic high moves into Western Europe settling things down and warming it up. This includes Northern Ireland and Scotland which too often miss out. Expect to see mid 20s return of these charts hold true

Wow, 46 C in Portugal?!? What's the record max for Portugal?

Lol, mid 20s at best? So this weekend might see the warmest day of the entire month, with only 26-27c.

A day or 2 with temps 1-2c above average is not 'summer warmth'. The rest of this month looks poor, and early September looking poor too. Summer 2017 better be good.

Let's face it, we probably are going to have to wait until March/April to have some good weather again.

What are coastal temperatures typically like when it's 40ºC+ inland? If the sea is only 21-23C you must get some big contrasts.

GEFS absolutely brutal in the 6-10 day for Northwest Europe

But recovering to above average in the 11-15 day

Eastern Europe and Russia in particular hogging up all the positive anomalies as usual lol

GEFS and CFS agree in tbe 6-10 day but CFS still showing cool temps in the 11-15

We are always below average in August. I'm not even expecting any improvement after this weekend. You can get nicer weather in September and October than August! It's a total joke.

Summer sunshine is always below average now. This summer has an excellent chance of being the cloudiest on record.

Unlike you, Augusts here has been the most reliable month for at least average to above average temperatures. Of the last 16 Augusts, 12 were above average, 1 exactly average and 2 below.

Now watch after saying this, I just jinxed this August lol

We just need a run of Augusts with 25c+ average highs, and 250-300 hrs of sun. Maybe 6-7 such months in the next 10 years. The worst years need to at least have average temps and slightly above average sun.

That will even out the negative anomaly we've had since 2006.
