I can't even handle those max temps in the low 20C's in the southern part of the country during August much less 8C.
Southern and Central Finland is not Chicago. The average high is 70F in August here. In Rovaniemi the August avg hi is 62F, that map shows 46F. That is a big anomaly. My city has had one low temp this month lower than that.
Anyway, a 68F temp here is as close to the Chicago August average than the 46F high to a Chicago average October (both -14F).
I never said it was. I personally think that those temps are awful for this time of year irregardless if they are close to normal or not. Soon though, I'm going to start seeing more and more of those low 20C temps as we progress into autumn

Definitely nice for the start of September. Even your minimum the second week are looking good
Why does it matter if it reaches 30C or not? Just enjoy the pleasantly warm weather before it disappears.
I know, but for a change it would be nice to have in August some 30°C days with low humidity instead of struggling to reach 27°C each day with 80% humidity and unrelentless wind.
I also hope that this weather will last in September and October.
We haven't had a good September for a while; the last I can think of were 2012, 2011 and 2006.
This September will be warmer and sunnier than June, but if it has well above average sun then I can forget about June and the summer will go down as a decent one.
It's also been one of the few years since 2007 with a normal number of 30c days. We've had 4 days this year, and the last time we had that many was in 2013 and 2009!
We were devoid of any heat this summer. In Turku the records will be: 27.7C May, 28.6C June, 26.9C July, 25.1C August.
The last ever +25C temp was recorded at 17 September 1947, so it's not completely impossible that Sep will have a higher record than August, though it's unlikely.
The whole country of Finland will not record a single 30C this year. Since 1981 this has happened seven times before, so it's not extraordinary, but not common either.
Hah, funny to watch the highlights of the football matches today. In Helsinki and Turku spectators wore t-shirts and in Rovaniemi thick coats and caps.
edit: The distance between Helsinki and the village of Utsjoki in the extreme north tip of Finland is as long as the distance from NYC to Savannah Georgia. We might have a small population, but the N-S distance is still huge.

That's still good enough to make up for the crap June if it stays like that. The average high for early September is 22c so it's average or above all the way.

UK Met states that London averages 19.9C for September, so I highly doubt the average high is 22C for more than the first week or less, so that forecast would definitely be above average. Pluss it looks sunnier than what you've had
