La Nina has picked up some steam over the last week or more. Definitely cooling in the ENSO regions. Question is, how long will this last, and will these conditions make it through the winter? I personally don't think so.
Weak La Nina's favor bitter cold and more snow for my region of the US
You and i know both know Temps in the low teens would fry your cidp for the most part. 1963 would kill all. Windmills will be fine of course. Stop being naive, they will die. They are not hardy to London coldest winters.

The coldest temperature ever recorded here would not kill any windmill palms; washingtonias and chamaerops would not suffer any serious damage either. It would kill CIDPs but not all of them (the ones in inner London would survive, as temps have never been below -10c there).
CIDPs survived December 1981, February 1986 and December 2010, which all had close to record breaking cold.
The original comment made no mention of CIDPs, it just said 'the palms'.
