Snow in the mountains isn't incredible, when there's snow on the beach at Torrevieja...
My Gran lives in Murcia and they had thundersnow there too. Around 3" of snow is pretty impressive tbh. It's more than I can get here!
Yes today was historical on Torrevieja (1926) and Cartagena (1939) but it was really light. Torrevieja:
For me it's incredible that in a zone of mid altitude mountains near me I've seen snow of various centimeters, I talked to a local (a person which was at least 70 years old) and he told me that the last time when he had seen such snow was in the 60's. Since then it snowed various times but not as much as today.
This place is the one which I've talking about, just at 350-400m of altitude, and it's not very far from the sea (~15km).
This was in the morning, when the sun started to shine. -1C was showing the car here.
Also in Dénia it was historical. Dénia really had a few centimeters of snow in the ground. I don't know how it stayed that much with positive temperatures... It was great.
In Altea it's a pity that we didn't have. My dad is from here and he has never seen snow... Just in the hills of Altea in the 80s. But not in the town or near the sea.
Today it arrived on the mountains behind Altea Hills: (photo from Albir)
Anyays, we won't forget this beautiful stamp from 2010:

In Spain we had yesterday as the coldest day from this current winter, when also the minimums had been quite affected, although the maximums had been affected the most. Now the previsions are accomplished, and it seems that they'll be accomplishing again and now we'll have 4-5 days of cool maximums, but the minimums will stay normal. PS. The predictions are from El Tiempo and AEMET.
9.2ºC now in Altea... totally normal for the night of a 19th of January.

Apparently Torrevieja has seen snow since 1926, but yesterdays fall was the first proper (settling) snow since then...
Quote:
Snow fell and settled in some coastal districts of Alicante Province and the Murcia region for the first time in decades on Wednesday morning, with Torrevieja getting its first significant snowfall since 1926 like at La Mata beach with a very cold-looking Guardia Civil officer!
The Mastral Project that monitors the weather in the Torrevieja area said that said that some flakes did fall in the city in the fifties and sixties without settling, and so Wednesday’s fall, which did offer a covering for a time around the city, was the biggest since 1926, and an opportunity for people to see snow for the first time ever!
The beaches on the Orihuela Costa as well as the Pilar de la Horadada area(photo on the AP-7); plus San Pedro del Pinatar and San Javier all got a rare dusting, but it was comparatively minor compared to the bigger falls in the northern areas of Alicante Province around the Marina Alta, which led to road and school closures.
