I just checked the forecast for Hougton, Michigan for next Tuesday, and it shows highs in the 50's. Wowza!

I need to book my flight immediately.

Quite contradicting right now. FMI and GFS says that some cooler air from the White Sea will touch Eastern Finland down to the Baltic bringing cooler temperatures, or shall we say normal, as highs should be around 22-23C (low 70's). Foreca says highs of 26-30C (80's) until Sunday and the Canadian GEM seem to agree. ECMWF seems to in the middle, leaning towards FMI estimates.

So who to believe? All in for GEM, then.

Yup in writing off this July. I thought last July was horrible (it did have the coldest seven day period on record), but this July is beginning to look like 1992, 2004, and yes even 2009 if the forecasts verify

The coolest July Average high temps MDW

2009: 78.8F
1992:79.1F
1957: 79.6F
1962:79.9F
1996:81.1F
2004: 81.2F
1958/1978: 81.5F
1956/1979: 81.7F

Currently this July: 81.6F

Looks like I'll be going to Florida soon....

What does the Pacific Typhoon have to do with weather in Eastern U.S? Think Ridge/Trough/Ridge/Trough.

In other words.. Typhoon peaks a ridge in Eastern Asia, which in turn buckles the Jet stream in the pacific... that dipping trough makes it to the East in 6-10 days. So when you're getting cooler weather next week, thank Neoguri for it.
