^^ The average high for the first week of August is 24.5C, and 23.2C for mid-month, so it's only above normal in the first week, average in the 2nd week.

Pretty good that we see "cool nights" here considering the big music festival happening here right now

Not the final numbers but this might shock you... Max Temps today as of 5pm.
I hit Mid 80s again today. Yeah, just circle it right over me why don't you.

That's what Sun, Rain & Clouds can do. Interesting, huh?

Rain has passed and it's still currently in the 60s in most of North Carolina! August 1st 5pm!

I always notice that Florida is never affected by the cold air. Is there a barrier?

83F/28C was the high temp at both Chi airports before showers came though. Dry now...

MJO moving into Phase 2.

Favors cooler than normal temps for eastern US during August.

It dropped into the upper 60s here too. 70F now, just after 5:30. It's usually stuffy inside at this hour without AC, but not today.

Yup, those expecting heat in the East can forget it. Pattern is reloading. Now I'm getting nervous! I DONT WANT it to flip for Winter!

I think we are going to see cool conditions right through the autumn season. Bastardi thinks otherwise stating that September/October would be very mild in the Central US. We shall see.

Turned out the high was 85F/29C at ORD after the showers today but the high at MDW remained 83F/28C.

Basically same forecast for the next next seven days. Sun, clouds, showers/storms (nothing severe)... Repeat.

and the next seven days. Warm temps nowhere near hot....

Coolest day this summer will be today. A high of 75 F followed by lows around 60. With the cloud, it feels much cooler. No need for A/C .

Gotta give credit where credit is due.. Joe B has made some excellent calls recently.

But if I start seeing any one of these signs, I will make a vow not to post in the Weather Forum for 2 straight months.

1. Weakening Troughs (ones where they don't dip further south than Ohio Valley)
2. Atlantic Ridge gets squashed and turns into a Bermuda High as the SouthEast Ridge shows up
3. Western Ridge shifts "west" more.

If I start seeing any of that in September I might be too nervous to post anymore. LOL!

Current Radar & Temps. 1 Batch of rain moves out, another 1 moves in for tonight. 0.45" of rain here. Up to 4" fell in MA

60s right now down to SC (10-15 below norm)
