London heatwave and Canadian hurricane are most likely. hurricanes have hit newfoundland in the not to distant past. including in 2003 when hurricane juan ripped through the canadian maritimes as a category 2 hurricane.

The London heatwave scenario above would have easily happened in 1976 had it occured a month later in late July/early August.

120+ is relatively common in Death Valley in summer but the 130 barrier is definitely much harder to break (the world record is unconfirmed) so I'd think 140 F is is probably possible but even far less unlikely.
