Wow, for me rent in Atlanta alone is like 550 pounds ($800) .
Depends, in Norwich where I go to uni it has some of the cheapest rent prices in the UK, as low as £240/month per person for some student houses, and these are nice houses, not small terraced houses. I'd say most other universities average is around £320-£350/month. Living in student accommodation supplied by the university is always more expensive
Well I don't know but it annoyed me how they assumed everyone would be living in poverty. They were annoyed and didn't believe me when I said I could afford to spend more than £20 on food and then said I need to be realistic.
Ugh.. I never said anything because whats the point.
Because most people are not spoiled by their parents and given £400/month! In fact most people I know had summer jobs and worked weekends whilst they were at college before university to save up! When you go to university you are 18 years old and it is time to start acting like an adult, not relying on the bank of mummy and daddy.
In fact, there was a girl like that in my first year who lived a lavish lifestyle as her rich dad paid for everything for her.. needless to say she was not popular. Always suggesting that we go out as a flat to really expensive places and not understanding how we could not afford it all. Most parents help their kids out at university, but it is a place to start learning how to live independently, I think your parents should really think twice about paying you all the money.
Once you leave university, you'll have to get a job, and starting as a graduate, shock horror - you will most likely have a starting wage of under £20,000/year which will mean that you will not be able to live a lavish lifestyle until you earn it
Well i'm saving up to go to America. I want to rent out a condo in a golf resort.
I need to be in a safe area, I will not be staying in a work accomodation.
How will you get around when you do that? You'll need a car - so you have to figure in the cost of a car rental as well as the short-term cost of renting a condo in a gulf resort. We're talking about 1000's of pounds here.
Just do like I did, backpack around South America, see a few things...lol.
Dunno why they charge daily / weekly rates like a hotel - over here, it's done by semester. (2x a year) I can't remember how much my accommodation cost, but it wasn't bad compared to what an apartment would cost (on-campus living was almost always cheaper than off-campus living.)
Here are the rates for one of the UCL halls in Tavistock Square, pretty much right next to the main campus.

That is expensive indeed! But halls are always expensive.. London is about 2x more expensive than anywhere else too, that is why if you go to uni in London you are entitled to a higher student loan lol

No the holiday will cost me £2,000 or so for the three months which I can save up. I have 30,000 united miles so I only need to pay £300 for the flight.
I will then get a £500 per month condo in a golf resort near the hotel.
