They do the same here with alcohol, send in people undercover and there is an £80 fine if they catch you selling to an under 18 without checking their ID first

Yeah I think I've seen that before how you can be in the army yet not smoke or drink legally in the US! In my opinion once you are 18 you are an adult and should make your own choices

Rode a horse tonight and bruised my toe on the saddle trying to get down from it. I guess flip flops were not the best choice to wear to a horse show.

I never appreciated how lax they were about enforcing age restrictions when I was a teenager, even though it wasn't that long ago. Going to the pub on Friday lunchtimes was pretty much tradition in my last year at school - the pubs must have known a lot of us were underage (since we would all have been in school uniform) but nobody cared, and the school must have realised what was going on but never bothered doing anything about it. As for buying lottery tickets, the only time I've ever bought one was when I was 14 and trying to see if I could pass for 16 (I think 16 is still the age to buy lottery tickets here). Don't know if I would have been allowed to claim any prize if I'd won.

Yep...one of the top darts players (I'm a big darts fan) is nicknamed 'Jackpot' because he won something like $75,000 on a slot machine in Vegas but couldn't claim it because he was 'only' 20 years old at the time and he didn't know you had to be 21

Cold and cloudy today.

At least the forecast looks decent.. sunny spells and temps in the low 20s. Just hope we don't get the dreaded NW/SE split which seems to rear its ugly head every year (last year it was September).

It's also funny how quickly you acclimatise.. I was getting used to temps in the high 20s, and they felt warm rather than hot to me. Now it feels cold. Hope my tan doesn't disappear.

Oh dear.. ouch! I used to use the slot machines when I was 16, but then it pays out automatically so it wouldn't have mattered that I was below 18
