Spent over an hour driving around this ****hole of a city looking for a part for my bike. Neither of the hardware stores had it. The staff are always trying to be so helpful, but they are even less knowledgeable than the customer most of the time. "Can I help you?". Yeah, you can **** off.
Some barber shops have the custom of offering a glass of champagne to customers while making the hair-do. Now the authorities have told them not to do so, as the barber shops don't have a liquor licence, and some are furious because it's a nanny-state signal.
There was a stabbing incident in a Lapland hick high-school where a 31-yo (!) convicted criminal stabbed a Sami schoolmate, and the suspect told he did it because he had sniffed lighter fluid.
Thirdly, the Swedish king and queen were in Finland for a visit and high school kids were asked if they prefer a king or a president. The president opinion won clearly.
I am NOT happy about DST in a couple of days. Our sunrise time has *just* made it below 7 am (6:59 as of today) - but come Sunday morning, it's going to be just shy of 8 am. I've got a lot of black mornings to look forward to now. And who needs for it to be light at 7:30, 7:45 this time of the year anyhow?
At the very least, they need to put the "spring forward" date to late March, to sync up with Europe. Our mornings would be still be fairly dark until we get through April, but not like it will be in the next couple of weeks. But March 8th - gimme a break!
dst is way too early for north america. Esp. considerng the biased timezone it makes dark mornings last much longer. School children?

We used to run it from late April to late Oct, which works out about right for how DST was meant to be used - to shift unneeded morning light to the evening.
But when it's still only getting light at 6:45 to 7:00 in the mornings, and to push that back an hour - yeah, some kids are in class before the sun finally comes up. Ridiculous!

And the American consumer (typically always wanting more for less) does NOT in any way deserve more knowledgeable retail staff.
How about school doesn't start so ****ing early! More than half the time is wasted anyway.
If you think schools in US are early try go to Java. Sunrise at 6:00am is ridiculously late for some of Javanese people, because school childrens are in their way to school. !!! (traditional folks walk to school)
And Lexington's earliest sunrise is still later than 6:00am

There's quite a few places where you can get a beer with your haircut here
