Checking the sky cover observations, May 17 is rated as 5/10 sky covered at Hartford. It was overcast till 9 am and got 1.6" of rain. The rain was all overnight. Past 9 am it was clear skies. The top photo is the morning of May 17 (odd I don't remember much clouds), the second one later in the day:
Based on the DC/Baltimore data that's been posted, I'll give it a B. Precipitation was somewhat variable but close to average, and most of the weekends were sunny/partly cloudy. Although a bit above average, the 90 degree heat was isolated and a good mix of days in the 70s, 80s, and a few 60s, but with one 57F reading at BWI that was a record low maximum for the date. IMO my ideal summer month climate would be similar to DC/BWI's Mays, but perhaps a few degrees warmer and with a little more sunshine. Sky cover tends to be misleading for especially the larger airports in America as high clouds which allow sunshine through count just as much as cumilform clouds that block sun. IMO if a day had around 60% of high clouds but few or no cumulus clouds and the sun still prominently shines through them (especially outside of the winter), its still more of a sunny as opposed to a partly cloudy day to me.
