Here's couple pics from this morning

Will this be the first year I actually have "Large" Onions???

Tomatoes... No Blight. No BER ...yet. So far so good except it's almost mid July and they aren't even mature size yet let alone changing colors.

My Tropical Section doing good. I have to figure out if I'm putting the Hardy Banana in the ground this year or bring it in one more time.

Just realized the Pine doesn't belong with them. LOL

Your banana tree looks better than those that are planted here. I assume because it's sheltered from wind.

Not sure why I assumed the alternative was cycling lol. Yeah the train gets you to that town but then you're stuck there, it's a dead end. Driving isn't much faster though, takes almost three hours to get there.

Still no info on those small palms, but they are some yucca or agave. Yucca jaliscensis is cold hardy to at least -15C, so those suckers will survive. But I believe they are only temporary. They have planted beeches there as well (which don't grow naturally in Finland, or didn't, now they have arrived), so must take a look at some point at them. Missed them completely.

Meanwhile in Lahti:

I don't keep a garden, but my mother in law does when she is here during the summer (she lives in Phoenix 6 months of the year).

Put it in the ground asap. By the end of summer you'll have plenty of suckers to put back inside.

Thanks. Funny you said that because I noticed the suckers growing already in the pot.

I'm worried I might lose the main tree. I had a young hardy Grapefruit put in ground last fall and it didn't make it through the winter. I didn't cover it well.

I just have to find a spot for the Banana.

With your summer heat, you should have a plenty of plants bigger than your original banana, by the time it cools off. All they need is rich soil and lots of water.

It's hard to see any citrus making it through your winter. Even in mild winter climates like the UK/PNW, cages, covers and heating seem to be common. Good luck.

Didn't take this myself, obviously, but the dry, hot, typical Okanagan weather is causing it's usual problems.
Fire southwest of Penticton, BC
