I know it's hard to narrow it down to just one climate in the whole world, so let's see what our top THREE favourite climates are. Choosing only three is pretty difficult too...
Moncton, NB's record lows are surprisingly weak for being inland, but then again it's in the Atlantic Maritime provinces... Charlottetown's −30.5C is also barely colder than Pittsburgh's −30C, but that's even less of a surprise.
I take that one back...just realised this past winter in Pittsburgh, Jan thru Mar had a similar temperature profile to a normal Portland winter, with similar snow (63.4" vs. PWM's 61.9"), and was not very satisfied. So Duluth, MN would fit my bill instead, with more moderate summers and stabler snowpack.
Really difficult to choose three. Other areas of Western Europe, Canada, Japan, and Korea have climates I like as well. Coastal Alaska is good too. Rainy and snowy are great, but I don't mind dryer climates as long as they're cloudy and coolish.
