MP's from the Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Lahti, Coastal Ostrobothnia and Southern Savonia regions were in favour of the gay-marriage law. Satakunta (the region north of us), Ostrobothnia, Kainuu, Northern Lapland, South and North Karelias against and Northern Savonia. Lapland was split. The Rovaniemi Region was in favour, North Lapland against. Central Finland was split as well, Jyväskylä said yes, the northern parts no.

That's a terrible method, because the majority in many states would vote against it. The courts protect a minority from the majority.
