My parents house got broken into (no one was home) and they're usually safe, affluent suburbia. Made off with some expensive jewelery acquired over the years.
Any area of New York City that might have crime issues walking around is probably one where owen (or tourists in general) are unlikely to end up in and even those, most of the problems are at night.
I'm sorry that happened to your parents.
Same for here, I don't think that people go to Opa-Locka or Liberty City (our 2 worst areas) when they're touring here. There's an area by Downtown called "Overtown" which a lost tourist could easily wander off too, however. Whenever you're down here be very careful that you don't wonder off to there.

This is true- especially with affluent areas that are close by to poor areas. However, my neighborhood is poor and burglaries are rampant here.
Happy that one of the prison escapees are caught. Now all cops need to do need is catch, interrogate & kill the other animal. They have traumatized the NE states far too much . Hats off to all the LE's involved in tracking em down:
