Gf and I want to move somewhere next year. She's a heat and sun lover, though having been born in Paris she copes better than I do with the oceanic crap, but we definitely want to move somewhere warmer and/or sunnier than Paris.
In my field of work I am confined to financial cities.
New York? Cold winters but sunny, definitely an improvement over Paris. Tough job market.
Singapore? Same problem, highly competitive.
Sydney? Her relatives live there and could sponsor us, so visa would be less of an issue, but it's absurdly far from everyone I know.
Monaco? Good option as well, but the French Riviera is really boring in winter, and unless you are extremely rich you can definitely not live in Monaco, you have to stick to the surrounding cities (Nice) and commute. Not fun in the overcrowded morning train.
Toronto? Canada is a great country and I'd find a job in a heartbeat, but in terms of climate, although it's sunnier than Paris, the sunshine + summer heat improvement in Toronto is nominal and ruined by the much colder winters.
London? NOPE.
Hong Kong? Horrific spring cloudiness, ridiculous summer rain totals, year-round early-ish sunsets, pollution...Nope.
I just really wish Australia were at its antipodal position, that would be perfect
LA?
But yeah Nice seems nice from April-October.. great in fact
Risk of severe thunderstorms today
Can't see any clouds though because of all the smoke.
