NWS Offices around the country send up weather balloons every 12hrs (12z & 00z). The data that gets collected from the atmosphere gets injected into weather models which help produce a forecast.


Anyway -- Apparently in Ohio this morning the garage they usually open for this big balloon froze to the ground so they had to use a doorway.

Is it me or am I the only one who find these launches cool? Maybe its because they are so important in getting our forecasts and weather model updates. Or maybe because it brings back real time info.
