And I will be moving to this F-- Climate where pleasant nights with mid 50's don't come till Mid October .

The OP describes Highmarket, NY where they have reached 400 inches of snow in one winter and seldom get under 300 inches. Barnes Corners is about 20 miles north of Highmarket and they have a hotel with a "winter door" about 15 feet above the ground. In winter you just step out onto the hard packed snow to get on your snowmobile. I lived in that area for a few years and one Christmas morning in 78 or 79 we got 40 inches of snow between 6 AM and noontime. Visibility was about 30 feet. We could see the tree in the front yard, but not the road 40 feet away.
