The Weather Centre has this "outlook" for the Ohio Valley

Quote:
Once again using this Typhoon Rule, we see the forecast on September 21st calling for continued deep troughing over Japan, now pushed deep into the country. Using the guidelines set forth for this rule, we might expect some chilly weather in the Ohio Valley around the September 27th - October 1st period. After going over the factors listed above, the temperature and precipitation outlooks for the Ohio Valley over the September 20th - October 12th period are as follows: - See more at: http://theweathercentre.blogspot.com....COiGQEdl.dpuf

and for the Northeast

After going over all of the factors above, as well as extra analyzations not mentioned in this post, the outlook for the September 20th to October 12th period over the Northeast is as follows. - See more at: http://theweathercentre.blogspot.com....RnWbJU3c.dpuf

Actually it's not bad today - humid, yes, but the temp is holding at 71 at noon, with low cloud. And so it begins...

We're losing daylight at the rate of 2 m 4 seconds a day, and the average temp is falling at the rate of 2 and a half degrees F a week.

Like an airliner dropping out of cruise, it takes a while to get near the ground, same with our weather - it just takes a while, especially early on. I tell ya, it's been a long, long haul, as it always is getting through our summer. Whew.

In just a couple weeks, summer will be truly well over, and the happy season begins...I can't wait!

Well, had our first sub-70F high since May 29 yesterday here - 65 degrees! And upper 40s this morning; I had the heat going in my car for the first time in awhile

So... With the High Pressure right overhead tonight a Large area of Northeast will fall under clear skies and light winds. That means one thing.... radiational cooling. Surface heat will go up and out.

However, some spots will have fog and that will stop any frost from occurring.

Also, dewpoints will remain high so a dip under 40 might not happen.

But.. cold air aloft might help some areas in northern tiers drop into the 30s.

Discussions from Buffalo, Binghamton, & Albany

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY
1028 AM EDT SUN SEP 14 2014

CLOUD COVER WILL DISSIPATE THIS EVENING WITH THE LOSS OF DAYTIME
HEATING. AS HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVERHEAD...THE CLEAR SKIES AND
LIGHT WINDS WILL PRESENT AN IDEAL SETUP FOR EXTENSIVE RADIATIONAL
COOLING
ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA. WHILE DEWPOINTS SHOULD REMAIN HIGH
ENOUGH TO PREVENT TEMPERATURES FROM DROPPING OUT OF THE 40S ACROSS
MUCH OF THE FORECAST AREA...A FEW OF THE MORE SHELTERED SPOTS
OF THE SOUTHERN TIER AND NORTH COUNTRY ARE EXPECTED TO DROP INTO THE
30S. IN FACT...WITH THE COLDEST AIR ALOFT BEING FOUND OVER THE NORTH
COUNTRY TONIGHT...PORTIONS OF LEWIS COUNTY COULD DIP INTO THE MID
30S AND A FROST ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THAT COUNTY ACCORDINGLY.

-----------------------------------------

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BINGHAMTON NY
105 PM EDT SUN SEP 14 2014

TONIGHT...SFC HIGH PRES WILL RESIDE OVER THE REGION BRINGING
CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS. THIS WILL RESULT IN EXCELLENT
RADIATIONAL COOLING
WITH TEMPS FALLING INTO THE UPPER 30S TO LOWER
40S. IN THE WESTERN CATSKILLS, WESTERN MOHAWK VALLEY AND TUG HILL
PLATEAU PATCHY FROST IS POSSIBLE. IN THE VALLEY AREAS OF THE TWIN
TIERS FOG IS EXPECTED WHICH WILL PREVENT ANY RISK OF FROST.

-----------------------------------------

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBANY NY
126 PM EDT SUN SEP 14 2014

TONIGHT...HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN ANCHORED OVER THE FA AND WITH
CLEAR SKIES...LIGHT WINDS AND A COOL AIRMASS IN PLACE ACROSS THE
REGION IDEAL RADIATIONAL COOLING IS EXPECTED. HAVE ISSUED A
FREEZE WARNING FOR THE WESTERN ADIRONDACKS AND A FROST ADVISORY
FOR THE LAKE GEORGE REGION AND SOUTHERN VERMONT. EXPECT LOWS TO
RANGE FROM THE

39.5°F last night in Troy, Michigan! Although I think the official low was 43. Is this normal so early? It was a wake up call that I now live midway between Chicago and Toronto lol. It felt much more like I should be looking for Christmas lights lol, rather than a summer evening. It is now a "balmy" 60.

Lets face it East... there's no torch or heat coming up anytime soon. Nothing interesting to note on the warm side as we've done in June and end of August.

Seasonable? Boring.

So whats left??

This....

Latest GFS12z off its rockers but does it surprise you if this happens??

Before you're eyes get to the last image...

Here's a comparison showing Tonights map on the left... semi troughiness 540 line in Canada.

Middle image is for end of the week, more trough, 540 line to the border... very cold... that trough lifts out over the weekend .....then BOOM...

See it? Last image. Next week. How much deeper can you go this time of year????

850frz line to Baltimore?? This screams freezes and frosts and Summit snows. Still 10 days away so don't believe it!

It's looking better and better for us here in the ATL - the latest NWS forecast shows mid-70's highs and mid 50's for lows for later this week.

It's about danged time, I tell ya!
